Opening Up book review : BK0114 : $44.50
If you have ever wondered what the alternatives are to a monogamous relationship this is the book you need to read. There are a lot of books around which treat this delicate subject in a way that could possibly put a timorous person off forever, but Tristan has got it right with this wide ranging and sensitively written book.
I think every adult person has thought about this topic at some stage, and most of us have really strong opinions on it. It can seem to be a minefield, and there is a real shortage of good information even if you happen to be interested or curious. But this book explains it all sensitively in a way that makes it easier to understand as an option for the average persons relationship, for whatever reason.
It's not about the details of how to have a threesome. It's far more in-depth, useful and informative than that. Even better, Tristan has utilised information from a variety of sources to put together a really detailed description of polyamory and all its variants. There is so much information included that it'll keep you engrossed for ages and funnily enough it brings up things which are relevant to a monogamous relationship as well.
I think this book is a great resource which every couple should have in their private collection; it is totally worth the money.
He's On Top : BK0071 : $35.00
You might think that a book like this would either be boring and repetitive, or too much of a good thing. You might even think that it would be too shocking for a curious newbie, or too bland for a seasoned veteran. It's none of those things.
This book is a great little collection which really illustrates the power and trust evident in a consensual D/s relationship. If you're interested in BDSM and want to know more or want to introduce the topic to your partner this could be the way to go. It is a good showcase of the different styles of relationships.
The stories are short and light enough to be entertaining and hot, and the overall tone is somewhat romantic and not condescending in any way. Highly recommended to add to your collection.
Fishnet Thigh Hi with Lace Garter Belt : UH0008 : $30.40
These thigh highs are definitely worth the investment. They are a really good size and would fit a wide range of women as they are not tight or binding around the top of the leg or the hips. If you can't be bothered with stay-up stockings that roll down, or a garter belt that is awkward and pinches, you should wear this instead.
Added to that they are really sturdy and just about impossible to make holes in, so don't wait around you don't need an excuse to be a hottie!

Hot Pink Lubricant : OL0019 : $32.00
If you're into adding some fun to your bedroom you should already have this beside your bed. It's smooth and silky, and you don't need very much at all - even better it doesn't dry out. It doesn't have any scent at all which is fantastic. It's glycerin and silicone free - and it never gets sticky. Believe me I've tested it extensively. The more you do, the more the 'heat' sensation intensifies, so I think you owe it to yourself (and your partner!) to experiment as much as I did!
Definitely a MUST have.
SM101 : A Realistic Introduction. Written by Jay Wiseman. : BK0043 : $64.50
When compared to 'Screw the Roses'; a lot more of the authors personal feelings and opinions are apparent in 'SM101'. But throughout your journey into BDSM you'll be constantly fine tuning and reassessing your own opinions. On that basis I do recommend you purchase this book.
Jay Wiseman has written a great, detailed disclaimer at the beginning of this book which should not only apply to the contents, but to BDSM itself. Taking personal responsibility for your sexuality and exploration thereof is something that some people never come to grips with. These few pages alone make the book worthwhile.
That said, there is a wealth of information which Jay has presented in a slightly 'researchy' or 'medical' way. It's still relatively easy to read though, and contains a number of interesting ideas. The book was written for people who have not yet made contact with others, and who perhaps feels that their desires are somehow 'wrong' or 'sick'. It has also been written in a style that is inclusive of heterosexual, transsexual, bisexual, lesbian and gay men.
Does this book deserve to be on your shelf? Yes it does.
It contains ideas that would give something extra to anyones sex life, not just people who are delving into BDSM. It's detailed and contains a lot of information related to keeping your private life under wraps, techniques and tricks for enhancing a sexual experience, and some very practical details on bondage. The subject of 'erotic pain' is well written in a way that is non-confrontational and interesting. The easiest 'toys' to get hold of clips and clamps are covered in detail. Following that, there are interesting chapters on humiliation, dominant and submissive interactions, and dominant/submissive relationships. One chapter I was impressed with was that of 'Safer Sex'. This is something that we all need to keep up to date with, whether we are monogamous or not. Finally, the last chapter I want to mention specifically is that of 'A novice woman's guide to erotically dominating a man'. Ladies, if you are struggling with this a little bit, invest in this book and get some practical insight into what to do, and the most helpful mindset to take on.
There are 391 pages in this book and every page works hard. If you don't have this book, and you are in any way interested in BDSM or in having a creative and interesting sex life you need to order it. You won't regret it.
Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns : the Romance and Sexual Sorcerye of Sadomasochism. Written by Philip Miller and Molly Devon. : BK0047 : $65.00
'Screw the Roses' as this book is commonly known, has become a bit of a classic in the world of BDSM. It is generally held up as one of the first books to read when first starting out. But is it what you are looking for?
It's a well presented book containing over 225 photos and illustrations, tutorials, some designs for making equipment and a useful glossary. It also has a huge list of vendors and online links, unhappily these are a bit out of date now. The book was first published in 1995, and the last (twelfth) printing was in 2001. But the information contained inside is still relevant and is a good introduction to what can be a scary and shadowy world.
The primary reason, I feel, that this book is so useful to a beginner it's written with a huge dose of humor. The authors have intermingled their personal experiences with facts and this makes it a very interesting read. It's not written in an intimidating, serious fashion but manages to give a great overview of what BDSM is all about. The psychology behind it is dealt with in a way that's thought provoking and non confrontational, so if you're looking for a book to share with a partner who has no idea of what you might* be into
this is the purchase to make.
That said, many, many people I know who have been involved with BDSM for years have this book in their collection. It really is worth the money, and if you're just starting out definitely buy it first. If you are an experienced person who does not have this book in your personal library, I do recommend it. It is not aimed solely at the beginner, and there is enough detailed information inside to refresh your mind and remind you of all the shades and nuances of this thing we call BDSM.
So for those creative people who are open and interested in sex - even if you are not especially interested in BDSM - I really do recommend this book as interesting, relevant and thought provoking.
Enjoy your read.
The Loving Dominant. Written by John Warren, Ph.D. :BK0113 : $45.00
What I liked the most about this book is the way John Warren emphasises that 'individual styles can vary wildly'.
He begins by explaining some of the background theories and histories of sadism and masochism. His explanations of why people might want to be submissive or dominant are also worth reading. He explains in a way that is reasonable and understandable, even to a person who knows absolutely nothing about bdsm as a whole. His short chapter on 'consent and consensuality' is also worth the price of the book, in my opinion.
After this opener, what is left?
John Warren's explanations of submission, and a personal chapter by Libby (a submissive woman) are very well done indeed. These delve into psychology without being dry and uninformative. Many people 'play' with sensation ; John Warren gives an informative and detailed view into what can be behind these desires.
One thing he has included a lot of information about is how to find someone who will complement your passions, including how to write a (hopefully) attractive advertisement. His chapter on 'safety' is detailed and a very worth while read. A very interesting and practical appendix (there are six!) is 'Scrubbing Up Afterwards' get your hands on the book to find out what that's all about!
The rest of the book is fairly standard when compared to others of its ilk, however I do recommend this one for the reasons above. One of the classics.
SoReal Suction Base Realistic 8" Dong : VD0012 : $36.60
ok everyone, if you're a size queen this will make your eyes light up! (and water too, but that's beside the point -)
Where do I start?
Just the sheer size of this thing is intimidating, before you even get up close and intimate with it. It's very realistic looking and quite heavy. It really does have an amazing amount of detail - it's as if someone created it from a body cast!
You can attach it to most smooth surfaces including bathroom tiles and glass, because it has a suction base. It is fairly rigid but if you flick it when it's attached to a surface the movement is very realistic. Be prepared for a look of awe on your victims face!
Because of the material it's made from it does tend to pick up a bit of fluff so be aware of this when you put it away. Personally I like to keep it on my bathroom vanity - there is just something about an erect penis smiling at me first thing in the morning that makes me laugh!
You will need to be experienced with larger sized dildos before attempting this. You'll need lots of lube too, and I do mean lots.
Don't underestimate its size - it really is enormous (six inches around the head itself, and six-and-a-half around the shaft).
I would recommend it for someone who is looking at working up to fisting, or seriously likes girth. I imagine you could possibly use it anally, but if you do I salute you. It's absolutely not for a beginner, and if you have enough talent to use it anally you could be making a lot of money in the 'adult film' industry!
(note from Sue, if you like the review but the size is too much we have a smaller version called the SoReal Suction Base Realistic 6 Dong : VD0013 : $32.00)
Vibrating Clit Massager/Pump :VV0057:` $39.50
This is an interesting thing to play with if you're bored with 'the usual' and want to try something different.
It is easy to see how to use the unit, all you have to do is plug the length of plastic tubing into the sleeve itself and you're good to go.
The suction bulb is purple, with a matching rim around the sleeve. There is also a control unit with the 'sevencreations' logo on it, and a wheel which you roll up and down to control the speed of vibration.
So the purple-trimmed end of the sleeve is for attaching to your body, and the other end of the sleeve contains a silver bullet.
You apply the sleeve over the clitoris, pump with the bulb to create suction and then you turn the bullet on!
It can be a little finicky to clean but as long as you do it shortly after using the unit it will be fine. Perhaps keep an old toothbrush for cleaning, just to make sure you get into the little nooks and crannies.
I have had varying success with this unit. It can be a bit frustrating to get the sleeve in the correct position to 'stick on' by itself. I have found that the best way to use it is to hold it in place with one hand. This might be due to my anatomy ; it would be interesting to hear from someone else who has used it. The silver bullet does have very strong vibration and if you can manage to get the sleeve attached properly it is an unusual and really good experience. You can vary the amount of suction (although I had trouble with this - if there wasn't enough it would fall off at the worst moment!) and also the amount of vibration which was good.
It is quite fun to stick on to nipples, where the suction does seem to work consistently well. It's multi-purpose!
I don't think it would be useful for someone who is still learning about their responses, but if you're up for a bit of an adventure (and are patient while learning to use it according to your anatomy) it'll be fun!
Ultra7 Silver Bullet : VV0024 :everyone needs one of these!
First let me say that I'm not one of those people who 'comes' at the drop of a hat. We are talking some heavy duty serious attention needed. A friend of mine calls this 'cast-iron-clit syndrome'. So I had no anticipation that this Ultra7 would be any fun at all - but I did have an open mind. So glad I did!
The unit comes packaged in a plastic insert which is contained in a box. The different vibrations are listed on the box, and there's a picture of a woman as well. The colour chosen for the packaging is unfortunate as it looks a bit faded. There are no other instructions given. It takes 4 Double A batteries. I would suggest you use rechargables and invest in a good recharger as well if you don't have one already.
The Ultra7 Silver Bullet itself consists of a silver oval sphere (egg?), connected by a black wire to the control box. The sphere itself is two and a half inches long, and three and a half inches in diameter. This means that you have a fair amount of 'surface' to cover a larger area of your body.
The controller itself is six inches long. The entire unit is not metallic, so it is not too heavy to hold in one hand. It has an on/off switch which is easy to press even with wet fingers. Above that is the controller for the seven different vibrations advertised on the packaging. This switch is also a decent size so you don't have to fumble around to find it when your attention is elsewhere.
The unit also has an LED which lights up in different patterns for the different vibrations ; this is really neat and gives a classy touch to the entire toy.
Lastly - something I found really good - the different vibration patterns are listed on the controller itself.
1.Low 2. Medium 3. High 4. Escalating 5. Pulsating 6. Intense Pulsating 7. Escalating & Pulsating.
I would suggest you take some time, get comfortable and go through the vibrations to get an idea of what this toy can do. There is a good variation between the first three settings so you can choose the level you want. Be warned - the 'escalating' setting will seriously drive you up the wall, it is REALLY GOOD. You can find this at #4 and #7 - it's an inspired piece of engineering that is well worth the money in my opinion! The other options are great too - the only thing I sometimes found a bit frustrating is that you can't choose which vibration you use. You have to cycle through them from 1-7 to get to the one you want.
If you spend some time experimenting with the Ultra 7 you'll find you can achieve a really great depth of arousal that I think some people miss out on. We can all get into that pattern of rushing and just 'getting off' but this unit reminded me that there's more to life than wham/bam.
An unexpected bonus of using the Ultra 7 is that you can choose different settings so you don't get overstimulated. I've heard people say that when they're using a Hitachi (for example) they often can't go on to have more orgasms for a period of time because they're just 'over it'. This isn't the case with the Ultra 7. Somehow it manages to be a hell of a lot of fun without getting you to that state where you're so sensitive you can't stand to touch anything at all down there. It has been fun walking around for a few hours afterwards feeling that yes I could do another one really easily if I wanted to! I find this to be a really good side effect of this toy. Somehow it brings you to a really deep level of arousal (and probably consistent orgasms if you didn't have the steel body part and a lot of stress going on!).
It doesn't *always* do the trick for me personally, but that doesn't matter. It can be really relaxing or a total torment. It would be fabulous used as part of foreplay too - I can see some guys really liking being in charge of the remote! so whether you want it for yourself or for you and your partner I would really recommend it.
There's no way I would give the Ultra 7 up without a fight! It's awesome!
Swirled Bulb Glass Dildo : VDG007
This MaxPassion dildo comes in a nice looking box with a clear window so you can see the product inside. Inside, the dildo is packaged in a polystyrene tray.
Why on earth would anyone want a glass dildo? Because they do not soak up all those bugs and nasties - they are the only toys apart from stainless steel that you can use vaginally and anally after washing. They will never discolour or fade. They will always be as beautiful as the day you opened the box. Colour will never leach out of your toy onto anything else, and you can completely sterilise them. You don't have to use half a bottle of lube as glass does not absorb anything. There is nothing worse than realising you're lying in a pool of cold clammy lube after the deed is done! You'll only need to use a tiny dab, which will go a long way.
The dildo itself is very beautiful and if it stood up by itself you could put it by the bed as a piece of art. However it's two-ended - so you have to lie it down. One end is vaguely cone-shaped, with ripples in the glass itself. The other end is a more standard ball. The body of the dildo has 'waves'. It is a delicate pink, with it's own black velvet bag to live in when it's not being used.
It does not appear to be a large toy, so if you're a size queen don't form an opinion until you've tried it. It is the perfect fit for the job!
You can clean it by putting it in the dishwasher, or just wash it using a mild soap. It is not porous so they won't hold onto any bugs or bacteria. Glass toys are a great choice if you have chemical sensitivities or allergies. They are completely hypoallergenic. You will also notice that there is no friction at all, so be careful if you are washing your toy by hand as it will get very slippery.
The great thing about a glass toy is that it will not compress. It doesn't bend, so you can target specific areas with absolute precision. If you are a woman who has ever found THAT perfect spot, and in the next second loses it again - that won't happen with a glas toy. Another fact is that glass toys are heavier than others, and this gives another set of sensations again. So you will need to use your glass toy more gently than others you might be used to.
Aesthetically they are a work of erotic art. If you're a bit turned off by that boring nude latex colour, or by black - this is a toy you will love. It really is beautiful to look at.
Glass toys also retain heat or cold very well, so you can prepare a little surprise for yourself or your partner. If you want to heat up your toy, completely submerge it in warm tap water for 5 minutes or so. Then pour out about half of the warmed tap water (making sure your toy is completely under the water that's left) and top up the bowl with boiling water. Leave the toy immersed for about half an hour and then you're good to go. But do test the temperature before using, just in case.
If you're really wicked you can use the same way to cool your toy only using cool water for five minutes, and then water with a few added ice cubes for a finale. Do not put your toy directly into the freezer - you could crack the glass (which means you've wasted money and have to throw it out, as well as interrupting your sex life!) - and the toy will stick to mucous membranes which will cause someone an awful injury. So stick with the ice cubes in the water, just to be safe.
When it comes to finding the g-spot with this particular toy, I can tell you that the length of this toy makes it perfect for the job. It is easy to hold on to, and if you angle it up towards the front of the persons body you will strike gold. It is the perfect length which makes finding the g-spot a lot easier. Get your partner (or yourself!) aroused first, then try very small motions as if you were 'scratching an itch'. I found that description elsewhere and it, combined with this toy, means you will get results.
I asked Sue's advice before trying this dildo and she knew what she was talking about. Great advice Sue, thanks heaps.
If you are a person who has not had much luck finding the g-spot this would be a really good toy to try. If you are a guy who wants to buy his other half a beautiful present, this is the toy. Or if you just feel like trying something new and a bit different - and having some fun at the same time - this is definitely the one to try.
You can't lose by buying this toy.
